Foreign Language 2 (Russian)

The material is based on developing the communicative competence, especially in listening comprehension and effective reading and writing skills.
At the beginning,the ability to write in Russian alphabet is practised systematically.
Within the course students are also informed about the country, its culture, customs and specifications. Practising the new material and developing communicative skills is emphasized.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

-will increase the level of scope,self-confidence,contextuality and fluency of speaking and writing abilities.
-will improve an ability of reading comprehension and producing its content.
-will be able to respond adequately to heard and written information.
-will be able to apply mastered basic grammar structures in speaking and writing communication.
-will apply the acquired skills for communication in common everyday situations.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.
Teaching methods include language seminars and homework. Students have to actively participate in classes.
Presenting and application of new topics using multimedia, simulation of real situations.
Exercises developing communication skills in both oral and written forms.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Credit and examination consists of:
1 written test based on material gone over - 40p.
2 listening comprehension - 30p.
3 reading comprehension - 30p.

1.Lesson 6 - occupation.Declension of nouns,ordinal numbers.
2.Spending leisure time,expressing personal impressions;saying the date,pronoun declension.
3.Lesson 7 - enrolling to language course,finding the way round the building;past tense;the polite form of addressing people.
4.Making an appointment,pronoun and noun declension.
5.Lesson 8 - Going shopping;verb conjugation,pronunciation of preposition patterns.
6.Writing an address,a letter,answering the advertisement,verb patterns. Reading comprehension,listening,pronoun declension.
7.Raduga 2: Lesson 1 - at school,how to say the date, tell the time,ordinal numbers.
8.Reading comprehension,listening.Lesson 2 - prepositional expressions,pronouns,noun declination.
9.Reading comprehension,conversation,listening.
10.Lesson 3 - Around the town,transport,verb conjugation,reading.
11.Infinitive structures,listening.Lesson 4 - Shopping,verb conjugation,noun declination.
12.Further material on specific nouns,reading comprehension,listening.
