Architecture and Urbanism in the Valuation of Buildings

This subject is divided into blocks of leturec. First block covers architectural features, planning determination, social characteristics of the surroudings and aims aat fundamental knowledge in architectural design, building procedures, skills and usage of buildings. The second block covers infrastructure networks, urban planning and land use determination. Besides technical aspects also juridical and qualitative aspects are included. The concept of the building is mentioned, proceedings of the design included and maintenance described. The gained knowledge enables evauation of buildings and their complexes.

Course curriculum

1. Introduction into building and architercture theory, Artistic and architectura features of buildings and artistic qualities
2. Development of architecture and building art, artistic value of monumental and heritage buildings.
3. Urban development, Settlement history, Town Planning determination, Land Use for experts.
4. Urban design and Urban Planning, city development, city renewal, new housing estates.
5. Urban sociology and housing sociology, usability of buildings.
6. Land Use determination, Changes of use, its impact on prices, price map of building plots.
7. Societal and demographical determination of housing, family development, typology of housing, offer and demand of housing in cities.
8. Impact of other influential factors like safety and security, criminality, gated communities (CPTED – Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design), atractivity, good address etc.
9. Architecture as a symbol, other functions of architecture.
10. Mobility, accessibility and transport. Transport and infrastructure systems of the city. Transport accessibility and its impact on the building´s price.
11. Building functions that determinate price, scientific prognostics in architecture and town planning.
12. Town development, city decline and revitalisation and its role in price of building determination.
13. Impact of buildt environment on human personality and relations, architectural determinism.

The aim of the subject is to gain a coplex knowledge and skills to evaluate buildings and their surroudings from different viewpoints like architectural, urban planning and land use, transport infrastructure and network.
