Master's State Examination Seminar 3

A seminar is based on consulting with a pedagogue and individual work on the essay, related thematically to one of the areas of the Master's State Examinations. An individual assignments stem from consultations, and so is a selection of appripriate literature and methodological approach to the assignment.

Learning outcomes of the course unit
Students will gain a more thorough orientation within an individually assigned thematic area. While working on the seminary essay they develop academic writing skills which they might employ later, while working on the textual part of their diploma theses.
Prerequisites
A cregit given from the course Principles for the Master's State Examination I. or Principles for the Master's State Examination II.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The seminar is introduced with two sessions during which students are introduced to the general principles of academic writing. Following are consultations in smaller groups and, in the end, individual consultations related to the specification of the individual seminar paper's topics and subsequent checks on the completeness of the texts.

Course curriculum
1. A choice of the specific assignment within a broader thematic areas of the Master's State Examinations. The final assignment is based on consultations. It should be closely related to individual interests in the field of art and its theory.
2. Gathering resources, (field / archive... ) research.
3. Continuous consulting.
4. Writing and handing out a final essay.
Aims
The aim of this course is to develop ability of individual work with resources and to gain a more substantial orientation within the selected area of the Master's State Examination. A student chooses the particular area according to his or her individual (artistic) specialisation.
Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences
Attendence in the introductory seminars is compulsory. Individual consulting during the semester follow.
