The course focuses on the problems related to the quality management in industrial enterprises as well as in the companies providing services.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students will have a clear idea of modern approaches to the quality management in a company, including the most frequently used quality management systems, namely according to the standards ISO 9000, TQM and EFQM.

Prerequisites

Fundamentals of organization company and managerial functions of the company, understanding the importance of customers in a market economy.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Lectures consist of an explanation of basic principles, methodology of the discipline, problems and their solutions.
Exercises promote the practical mastery of subject presented in lectures or assigned for individual study with the active participation of students.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Course completion:
Credit: elaboration of semester work.
Exam: written form. The student will receive two questions, the answers to which he has a limited time. The exam is classified according to the ECTS scale.

Credit: elaboration of a semester work, which will be sent to the lecturer.
Exam: written form. The student will receive two questions, the answers to which he has a limited time. The exam is classified according to the ECTS scale.

Course curriculum

1. Basic concepts - the definition of quality according to (ISO 9000, Walter Masing, Kaoru Ishikawa, Crosby, Feigenbaum), the development perspective of quality, product quality, service, process, information, quality class, the Strategic Concept C -Q - T.
2. Quality loop, loop quality content, basic approaches to quality assurance in marketing, designing výribku (services), development, procurement, manufacturing, quality control, packaging and storage, sales and distribution, after-sales service.
3. Basic methods of quality management - FMEA, QFD, Series P - D - C - A, quality diary, reliability analysis, Six Sigma.
4. The role of the human factor in quality - tasks of senior management in quality control tasks of workers in quality control, human factor affecting the quality, responsibility caused by non-compliance.
5. Customer satisfaction - the basic model of monitoring the level of customer satisfaction, customer satisfaction index, nuts customer satisfaction and loyalty.
6. Quality management approaches - Quality Management System according to ISO 9000, Total Quality Management - TQM, EFQM model.
7. Quality economy - the essence of economics quality, quality costs at the factory (quality costs according to Harrington, quality costs according to masing, PAF model, model of process costs), quality costs for the user, the societal cost of quality.
8. Strategy quality of the company - a quality company as a subsystem of corporate strategy, quality policy, quality planning, educational programs for quality, cooperation with suppliers, bond quality management in marketing and development, effects of quality audits of quality systems.
9. Certification - an explanation of the concept, types of certification - Product, personnel system, the reasons for quality system certification, the pitfalls of choosing a certification authority, the most important stages of the quality system certification.
10. Protection of consumers - the development of consumer protection in foreign countries, the importance of consumer protection and the reasons for its institutionalization, consumer protection in the Czech Republic, government agencies, consumer organizations, consumers.
11. Methods and techniques of quality - product testing, quality indicator, benchmarking, value analysis, product labeling.
12. Prizes for the quality - Deming prize, the Malcolm Baldrige, the European Quality Award, prices Czech Republic Quality.
13. Trends in quality management - general trends in quality, development of quality approaches in the US, Japan and Europe, ways to achieve higher levels of of quality management.

Aims

The main objective of the course is to provide students with the theoretical foundations and methodology necessary for the quality management in the company. Also dealt with is mastering of modern management approaches to and methods of quality management necessary for management.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Control of results of independent work on specified tasks. Excused absence from seminars can be compensated for via additional condition set by the teacher, usually via elaboration of partial written task.
