Learning outcomes of the course unit

Completion of the course provides students with advanced knowledge of chemical, toxicological and ecotoxicological properties of hazardous substances. The final output is the ability of students to solve emergency situations during handling and transport of these substances.

Prerequisites

Successful completion of the course is conditional on the knowledge of physical chemistry, organic, anorganic and enviromental chemistry.

Co-requisites

Not applicable.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching is carried out through lectures and seminars. Lectures consist of interpretations of basic principles, methodology of given discipline, problems and their exemplary solutions. Seminars particularly support practical mastery of subject matter presented in lectures or assigned for individual study with the active participation of students.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

To pass the course, you must obtain credit and pass an oral exam. To obtain the credit, the minimum 90% attendance at seminars and passing three written tests.

Aims

The subject will provide students with advanced information about the area of hazardous substances. The subject contains the description of their chemical, toxicological and eco-toxicological properties. Teaching will include manipulation, transport and possible decontamination and sanation of the environment after accidental situations. The emphasis is also focused on possible misuse of hazardous chemical substances especially when terrorist attacked.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Attendance at lectures is not mandatory, but is recommended. The attendance at exercises is mandatory for students.
Checking in full-time education is provided through the discussion forums at lectures, after the end of contiguous block of lectures.
The time for consultations is offered to the students.
