Supply Management

Students will be made familiar with:
Material requirements planning system of production process; normative basis for consumption calculation. Order processing. Purchasing strategy for markets. Inventory management – inventory technologies base methods. Inventory sorting with Pareto analysis. Warehouse systems. Goods identification. Order processing and packing.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students will be able to analyse and sort structure of inventory. Beside students will be able to make strategic decision in the field of warehouse projecting; warehouse technology and question how to effective manage material flows. The application of prediction tools and techniques of inventory both inventory management in practise is emphasized.

Prerequisites

Students are expected to have the following knowledge and skills when they begin the course – Logistics, Mathematics and Statistics. The course develops all completed knowledge from economy; technical science; informatics and production management.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.
Lectures will be conducted with the use of educational technology for the use of Power Point.
Seminars will be calculated as well as a seminar.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Conditions for awarding the course – unit credit: participation in exercises, fulfilling the assignments, and submitting case study of required content and form including presentation of results.
The exam has a written (80%) and an oral (20%) part.
The written part of the examination contains examples. The oral part tests student’s ability to understand and apply the theoretical knowledge of inventory management.

Warehouse function. Analysis and inventory classification. Inventory prediction. Inventory controlling. Warehouse technology. Package and packing technology. Marking and identification. Automation identification. Collaborative approach of inventory management.

Aims

System approach how to understand of inventory management is a key activity of each company. The objective of the course is to provide students with the necessary supply management function of enterprise; economy and strategy point of view of inventory management in present global environment.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Attendance is required and checked by the tutor in written form of an attendance list. Also controlled is a partial solution of the case study in the middle of the semester.
