Diploma Thesis

Students' individual work in solving a major technical problem, supported by consultations with project supervisor. Students usually choose the theme of the diploma project from the themes offered in the field, in the winter semester of a given academic year as an end-of-semester project. The theme is specified in its final form and assigned definitely at the beginning of the summer semester.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

On completion of the course, students will be able to:
- independently develop a technical project,
- write a technical report for the project,
- defend the project.

Prerequisites

A successful defence of the technical project (PM2T).

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Student has to write an individual technical project. Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in article 7 of the BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

The diploma thesis is evaluated by the committee for final state examinations.

Aims

The aim is for the student to elaborate independently a diploma project to conclude the MSc studies. The student chooses the theme of the diploma project from a list of themes offered by the respective Department.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Students’ work on the project is checked in the frame of regular individual consultations with the supervisor.
