Theory of Financial Markets

The course enables acquirement of theoretical knowledge and practical skills with respect to all spheres of activities on a financial market. The course deals with the individual types of existing financial institutions and financial instruments as well as with the most important types of financial transactions carried out on financial markets.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

The goal of this course is to deepen the financial markets knowledge and to lead the students to understand the financial market theory in wider theoretical and practical relation. The gained information should help the students not only in further scientific research but also in managerial positions in different branches.

Prerequisites

The subject needs knowledges in the area of the Macroeconomics I and II.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The course is thought via pre-established teaching blocks (hours) and qualified consultations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

The course is ended with oral exam. Evaluations are carried out by four degrees and it excellent, very good, good, failed to test the oral interview with the student teacher.

2. Types of financial transactions.
3. Financial institutions and instruments.
4. Theory of interest rates and its functioning in financial system.
5. Financial investments’ theory, basic factors if investment strategy.
6. Stocks and bonds definition, its systematization and characteristics.
7. The stocks and bonds classification and its importance (due to issuer or investors).
8. The Stocks exchange importance, its classification and inner structure.
9. The fundamental, technical and psychological analysis.
10. The shares business and basic investment strategies approaches.
11. The collective investment importance in Czech Republic and in the world.
12. Terminated derivates instruments and its practical usage in business.
13. Structured products.
14. The Foreign Exchange Theory.
15. Portfolio direct investment.
16. The Portfolio Theory.
17. The financial markets regulation.
18. International investment decision making methods.
19. Further global financial market and globalization trends.

Aims

The course is dedicated to doctoral students whom are interested in economy studies, management or financial themes. The goal of this course is to deepen the financial markets knowledge.
