Specialization: Leisure Movement Activities

The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the basic attributes of free time, it's functions and the typologies of activities in relation to age, gender, education, localization and other varialbes. The description of leisure activities, content, classification, importance, methods and forms of work. Relations of various educational systems to free time, it's content, use and importance of physical activities in leisure time. Management, leadership and organization od physical activities in free time. Types of events, competitions for adults, families with children, company evets. Possibilities of sports of children through adults to seniors (point of view of health, teritorial, temporal, financial and physical performance of individual activities, dependence on other people). Services for the physical free time activities. Practical activities, visiting facilities, institution, organization focused od the supply and realization of physical free time activities for children, youths and adults are part of this course.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students will gain an overview of available recreational movement activities, and learn the importance of movement activities in the formation of the optimum physical and psychological development of children, youths and adults within the context of staying healthy and increasing one's resistance. Students will be acquainted with the issues involved in the organization, management and leadership of movement and sporting activities for children, youth and adults.

Prerequisites

Pracically applicable knowledge and skills from the physical training courses studied as pat of the bachelor's study.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The course is taught through lectures explaining the basic principles and theory of the discipline. Exercises are focused on practical topics presented in lectures.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Credit awarding:
passing of two continuous test 20 points (6th and 9th week). Working out of the term work 40 points. Defence of the term work 10 points. Passing the final exam 50 points.
Attendance at the lectures and seminars.

Form of the examination and the final classification of the subject:
Submission of the student's own healthy lifestyle programme (50 points) and a written test (50 points). Total - maximum 100 points.

- The importance of movement in the life of a person. Performance and enjoyment. Motivation.
- Options for children, adults and seniors to engage in sporting activity (from the aspect of the health, spatial, time, financial and material requirements of individual activities, as well as dependence upon other people).
- Sports training. Suitable and less suitable sports and movement activities from the point of view of health.
- Variants and alternatives in the suitable movement regime for adults in individual sports.
- Games in the lives of children and adults. Sports for the whole family.
- Events, competitions for adults and families with children. Company events. Company sport.
- Management, leadership and the organization of recreational movement activities
- Practical lessons - suitable kinds of physical activity according to an individual's age and state of health; contents of healthy lifestyle programmes.

Aims

The aim of the course is to acquaint the students with the ways and means of cultivating the creative powers of children, youths and adults. It also aims to prepare the students, from the theoretical as well as the practical point of view, for the management and organization of free-time movement activities at the "trainer/instructor" level. The subject focuses mainly on health and suitable physical activities, and ways to learn to lead a healthy lifestyle.
