The course focuses on characteristic features of business professional communication. It provides students with relevant specialist language and professional communication skills they will need in the workplace. The course provides preparation for Business English examinations at B2 level.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

The course at upper-intermediate level (B2 according to CEFR) is designed to prepare students for various economic professions. It will enrich their professional vocabulary and enable them to express themselves more authoritatively in professional contexts.

Prerequisites

Professional English 2 is a follow-up to the course studied in the previous semester (Professional English 1) covering the first half of the course book (U1 - 6). Exam from course 1 is a necessary prerequisite to continue in the course 2.

The course it taught by means of language lessons focused on practicing language skills and developing vocabulary. It includes also individual work of students.

Aims

The course has a practical approach and is intended for pre-service students preparing for work in a business environment.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Students’ participation is compulsory and their work is systematically controlled. Regular attendance, active participation in lessons and completing of all assigned tasks are required. Absence may be compensated for by an agreement with the teacher.
