Insurance

The course "Insurance" explain what the insurance industry as part of financial services and the importance of insurance protection to potential clients of insurance companies. Provides basic knowledge of insurance theory, individual insurance industry, the principles of operation of commercial insurance companies as insurance companies. Acquainted with the EU legislation on insurance laws adopted in terms of the insurance market in the Czech Republic and the current management of commercial insurance issues. Inform people about insurance products and paves the way for wider student orientation in the policy conditions of selected insurance companies.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

The acquired knowledge will enable students to better understand the issue of providing insurance coverage and insurance sectors. Teaching students to contribute to the understanding of commercial insurance, risk management and the need for a deeper understanding of the consequences of possible solutions to uncertain claims. Students will be able to understand the range of insurance products in the insurance market in the Czech Republic, to the extent of insurance cover and how to return the claim. Understanding the rules of regulation and supervision of insurance to help students gain a broader overview of the implementation of legal standards of the European Union in terms of financial and insurance market in the Czech Republic. Students will be able to solve dovedněji health and wealth of natural and legal persons using commercial insurance.

Prerequisites

The course of study is the feed rate of insurance theory, which extends the basic knowledge of students. For successful completion of the course must have the basic knowledge of business economics and be able to understand the current information from the insurance market of the European Union and the Czech Republic.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Lecture 1 week 2 hours, PWP presentation and discussion.
Seminar 1 2 weeks 2 hours, practical examples, the determination of premiums and subsequent coverage for the selected insurance products. Case study - an analysis and comparison of competing products selected type of insurance, eventually with the real valid insurance contract and subsequent recommendations from the client's perspective.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

For the award of credit is required reaching the following conditions:
1. Recommended attendance at seminars, 1 absence allowed. Attendance at lectures is not compulsory.
2. Preparation and submission of revised tutor work on an assigned topic.
3. Successful completion of a written test (at least 60 % of points).

The course is finished by a written exam, min. 60 % of points.

2. Insurance and insurance - characteristics, principles of insurance.
3. Classification of insurance, the insurance sector.
4. Life insurance.
5. Non-life insurance.
6. Reinsurance.
7. Insurance activity of commercial insurance.
8. Capital adequacy, investment activity insurance.
9. Management of commercial insurance.
10. Legal norms in insurance.
11. Regulation and supervision in the insurance industry.
12. Insurance Market.
13. Current insurance issues in the Czech Republic and the EU.

Aims

The course aims to provide students with basic knowledge and current information from the insurance industry. To acquaint them with the safety theory, principles of insurance and insurance protection. Tell them to offer insurance market in the Czech Republic, various types of insurance, including pointing out problem areas from the sale of insurance products, insurance administration and claims handling.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Attendance at seminars is compulsory. Seminar works will be processed in teams of max. 3 students. The control is the content and formal treatment of seminar work. Attendance at lectures is recommended.
