Studio I - Graphic Design 2 - winter

Since some 25 years ago, paper and book have been viewed as independent categories of art (Paper Art, Book Art or Artists' Books). Recently the terms Authors' Paper and Authors' Books have become frequent. The Atelier of Paper and Book in my conception is an interdisciplinary university (academic) platform for those interested in overlaps of art and craft

Course curriculum

Initiatory theme: The book about... / The book with ...
Individual themes: students themselves chose at least three assignments from the themes of previous years
Tochnological aspects:
- solution of partial assignments has the direct connection with the course Paper and Book - Technology I.
- introduction to bookbinder´s materials (creation of one´s own sampler)

Aims

Graduates from the Studio of Graphic Design 2 are capable of critical thinking and are able to assess their professional skills. The four-year-long program is conceived in such way so that it develops individual skills of each student. We emphasize the understanding of the role of design and problem analyses. During their studies, students gain and develop a wide range of skill in the trade. We also stress interdisciplinary cooperation aimed at understanding the same principles at the labor market.
