Academic Presentation Skills - Summer

This course is intended for students of the MA cycle at an intermediate level of English and aims at improving and cultivating their speaking skills. The course is not a continuation of the Basic Presentation Skilss course. However, the content is similar: students will present papers about their current artistic projects and importatn artists who inspire them at their work. They will also discuss and present other topics assigned by the course teacher - a NAVITVE SPEAKER - during the semester.

Prerequisites

Students should be already at an intermediate level of English, but they do not have to be fluent or confident in spoken English. On the contrary: the course has been designed especially for such students.

Course curriculum

students will present papers about their current artistic projects and importatn artists who inspire them at their work. They will also discuss and present other topics assigned by the course teacher - a NAVITVE SPEAKER - during the semester.

Aims

This course aims at cultivating the participants' spoken English, which entails a number of problems: authenticity of vocabulary, the chosice of the correct registers (slang or formal) and recognizing of the appropriate situation in which to use them, learning how to logically build a spoken presentation, learning ceherence, cohesiveness, and widening both general and discipline-specific vocabulary.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Two absences per semester are allowed.
