Studio IV - Environment - winter

The course focuses on the individual students‘ artworks in context of their interest. It helps them to choose and apply adequate media of self-expression. It teaches them critical discussion in them defined theoretical framework. It mediates them selected events in contemporary art and culture in the Czech Republic and abroad.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

In the winter semester of the fourth year of the bachelor's degree, students develop and critically evaluate their own artistic work. They are able to freely choose and apply media of their own work. They are aware of the theories in the context of their own work. They confront thmeselves with related artistic approaches. They are ready for the bachelors exams.

Prerequisites

Ability to independently deal with the assigned atelier task.

Presentations, lectures, tutorials, discussions, field trips, study of literature.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

To obtain credits, it is required to submit a completed artistic project, participate in a joint studio program, and edit portfolio of own artistic practice.

The studio work is continuously complemented with tutorials within the department or with external experts, with lectures, and field trips to exhibitions, and institutions in relation to the discussed problems. An integral part of the program is also study of literature and texts related to individual art works.

Aims

Creating of an individual art project - freely or in response to the studio project task, conscious application of media of an expression; formulation and discussion of urgent issues; orientation in contemporary cultural events in relation to history and to non-artistic areas.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Submission of assigned projects, attendance, communicating about the overview of cultural events.
