Unseen City

Students will be acquainted with the problematic of orientation of blind and visual impaired people in public space in the form of lectures and special seminars. They will work up a semestral work - analysis and improvements of chosen public space in the city of Brno. The course will be provided in cooperation with TyfloCentrum Brno, o.p.s. (Blind League Brno).

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Semestral work - analysis and improvements of chosen public space in the city of Brno with focus on movement of blind and visual impaired people.

Prerequisites

Basic knowledge of building design (urban, architectural and structural design).

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Study will be evaluated on the base of the semestral work.

Course curriculum

1st week to 5th week - acquaintance with the problematic of orientation of blind and visual impaired people in public space in the form of lectures and special seminars (experience course, personal meeting, seminar work)
6th week to 8th week - analysis of chosen public space in Brno (on the base of gained experience)
9th week to 12th week - design of apropriate improvements of this chosen space
13th week - final presentation and credit

To make students acquainted with the problematic of orientation of blind and visual impaired people in public space.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Presence at lectures and seminars results from the duty to consult with the teacher about the seminar assignment.
