Diagnostics of the bio- and ecosystems

Sensing principles of electrical signals generated by organism, sensing principles of the nonelectrical signals generated by organism, devices for operation rooms, devices for physiological research, devices for diagnostic laboratories (physical principles used for testing hearing, eye field of view, properties of muscles and for the blood vessel system). Physical principles of devices for biochemical laboratories. Physical principles of devices for environmental diagnostics.

The student will acquire a compendium of the properties of the selected diagnostic methods for health care and ecology.

The subject knowledge on the Bachelor´s degree level is requested.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Techning methods include lectures and practical laboratories. Course is taking advantage of e-learning (Moodle) system. Students have to write three assignment during the course.

Types and principles of sensing electric and nonelectric activity of the organism: transducers and biosensors.
Principles and construction of systems for heart diagnostics: ECG with automatic diagnostics, stress tests, Holter monitoring systems.
Principle and construction of systems for diagnostics of hemodynamics: blood pressure and blood flow, cardiac output, venous diagnostics.
Brain diagnostics and diagnostics of the nervous system.
Principle and construction of systems for eye diagnostics: field of view, intra-eye pressure, EOG, ENG, eye ultrasound biometry. Diagnostics of hearing: subjective and objective audiometry.
Principle and construction of systems used for breathing mechanic diagnostics: spirometry, gass analysers, full body plethysmography.
Principle and construction of devices for tissue impedance measurement.
Principle and construction of diagnostic systems using ionize radiation.
Methods and systems for measurement of air pollution (SO2, O3, carbonhydrats, NOx, CO, CO2). Methods and systems for measurement of the opencast water and the sewage (BSK5, CHSK).
Methods and construction of systems for ambient noise mesurement and for measurement of vibrations, infrasound and ultrasound.
Methods and the construction of systems for measurement of electrostatic, magnetic and electromagnetic field in environment.
Dosimetric methods at a industrial operation and hospitals, personnel dosimetry, full body spectral analysis after external or internal contamination.
Methodology and systems for the building thermal relief by using of the thermovision. The illumination and brightness measurement at the working environment.

Desing of the temperature compensation circuit of the semiconductor pressure transducer.
Design of the input circuit of the alcohol tester with a fuel cell.
Design of the constant current source for tissue impedance meter.
Design of the dosimetr input circuit with Geger-Müller tube.
Action over evaluation from termocamera record.
Designe principle of the simple equipment for the troublesome magnetic field measurement.
