Course detail

FEKT-CTMPAcad. year: 2015/2016

The content of the subject is to make students acquainted with the basics of the work with systems for modelling and for solving technical and managerial tasks through modern computing technology - CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) - SolidWorks, Cosmos FloWorks, CosmosEMS, Ansys (in the follow-up courses, it is possible to acquire certificates about mastering most of the systems mentioned).
Connecting the given systems with the production through the systems for production management CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing).
Brief introduction into the managerial systems for managing and administration of the company data PDM (Product Data Management).
Student will also be acquainted with the PhotoWorks system for the animation of virtual models od analysed and proposed solutions.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Student will be able to model and simulate a technological problem in the areas of electrotechnical production through CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) system.
Student will gain the basic overview of the usage of CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) and PDM.
For entering the practice, the student will get a complete overview of the possibilities of the whole spectrum of CAD-CAE-CAM-PDM (Product Data Management) systems for the support of technical and managerial work.

Prerequisites

The subject knowledge on the secondary school level is required.

Co-requisites

Not applicable.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Lecture are conducted by using PowerPoint presentation, short video - clips and films and discussion with students. Exercising are divided on computer and reckoning exercising. Students have to write a single project/assignment during the course.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

30 count - work over semester
70 count - test in last semester

Course curriculum

Lectures:
Overvies of systems for computer support of technical and managerial tasks: CAD-CAE-CAM-PDM. Their classification and possibilities
Contemporary development of computer support – transision from 2D CAD systems (AutoCAD) to 3D systems functioning on the method of Electronics Product Definition (EPD - Electronics Product Definition) with the use of the SolidWorks system.
PhotoWorks – additional product of SolidWorks for the creation of presentations of virtual models including videosequencing.
Cosmos EMS – system for modelling in the area of electrical and magnetic fields.
CosmosFloWorks - system for modelling in the area of heat transport and for modelling in the area of circualtion of fluids and gases.
Ansys – possibilities to use the system focused on the main areas used in electrotechnics.
SolidCAM – demonstration of an output with direct connection to the production management.
PDMWorks – description of new trends in the area of company data management and administration with the Product Data Management (PDM) systems.

Seminars:
Difference between the explicit method (AutoCAD) and electronic definition of product (SolidWorks). Creating 3D models with the use of SolidWorks.
Creating the presentation in the form of a video sequence (*.avi) with the use of PhotoWorks environment.
Distribution of flow in the electrode systems (Cosmos EMS).
Analysis of electric and magnetic fields, modelling of the trajectories of electrically charged particles in these fields (Cosmos EMS, Simion).
Flow of gases in the vacuum pumping in the equipment for electron microscopy (Cosmos FloWorks).
Transforming a 2D drawing of a printed circuit with the help of CircuitWorkd module to Cosmos FloWorks, analysis of the cooling of a printed cirucit (Cosmos FloWorks).
Analysis of the soldering process (Cosmos FloWorks), termodynamics of soldering, metal diffusion analysise kovů (Ansys).
Production management (SolidCAM).
Company data flow management in the environment of the PDMWorks system.
