Learning outcomes of the course unit

Knowledge refinement of regarding residential buildings, civil buildings new knowledge of design constructions needs from the point of view of space formation, operation scheme, and selected types of buildings capacity solutions , students orientation in the current legislation regarding those constructions requirements.

Prerequisites

The curriculum is continuation of general typology of Building Science I.
Without having attended it is impossible to design civil buildings. Knowledge of bricked, monolithic, wooden and steel constructions. Knowledge of building services and fire safety of buildings.

Co-requisites

Gain further knowledge of principles suitable constructions and details. Basic knowledge of heat technology and acoustics, fire safety of buildings.

Teaching methods are specified in the article 7 of Brno University of Technology rules.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Submission of approved public building design, the final written test and oral exams.

Aims

Refinement of knowledge regarding residential buildings, new knowledge about civil buildings for the needs of projecting objects from the point of view of space formation, operation bonds, and capacity solutions of selected types of buildings, orientation of students in the current legislation regarding requirements for these constructions.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Syllabus

Task 1st - 11th week:

Design public building (task choice):

administrative building + storage
temporary accommodation building (boarding house, hotel, hostel...)
motel (without gas station)
leisure time centre (sport, educational, relax...)

Design will be done as an architectural study and will contain:

accompanying information
layout 1 : 200, 1 : 500
all plans of bulding 1 : 100
section 1 : 100
views 1 : 100
axonometry or perspektive view

All tasks will contain public eating - type will be consult with supervisor.


Design parking sites, relaxation areas, children playgrounds, rubbish bins, outdoor lightings, vegetation zones.

Aim at area and operation schemes, choice suitable construction system, capacity of sanitary facilities, barrier-free access to public part of building, attractive design of proportions, materials and fasades (in colours).
