Course detail

Water Quality

FAST-BP04Acad. year: 2013/2014

For Water Quality Wastewater Treatment is prerequisite. The goal is to introduce basic characteristic of water, hydrobiology, kind of pollution and its effects and methods of water quality evaluation. Ground, surface and rain water is discussed. Important part is breakdown on surface and ground water, its elimination, control of water quality and legislation for protection of water in Czech republic. The last part deals with water quality modelling (QUAL2E).

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations. Mandatory participation in seminars, working out exercises and essay which is presented at the end of semestr. Examles are processed in LMS Moodle.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Mandatory participation in seminars at the seminars (only allowed two excused absence) submitting examples of exercises deadlines. Written and oral examination. For the successful completion the exercises is necessary attendance to exercise with only two absences, submission of all calculated examples, submission and presentation of the essay. Examples and essay are scored and requirement for credit is to reach at least 60% of the total marks.
