Required scope:
preliminary conceptual design of the structure
location proposal
static and hydrotechnical calculations
calculations and design of functional objects and their allocation
layout plan

Learning outcomes of the course unit

The graduate obtains knowledge about the processing of proposals river training, weirs, dams, hydropower. The graduate is able to:
solve problems related to design and realization water structures
to anylyze a given problem
describe the design process of the project
apply design parameters to the drawings
present the results of the project

Prerequisites

Basic knowledge in the field of Water Management and Water Structures which include hydraulics, statics, river hydraulics and river training, weirs, dams, hydropower, technical drawing in Autocad system.

Co-requisites

Legal regulations, Water Law.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.
The course is complemented by excursions and expert presentation.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Successful conclusion of the course requires the completion of exercises and the project elaborated to the extent described in a particular specification.

Course curriculum

1. Preliminary alocation of the structure in layout plan.
2.- 5. Static and hydrotechnical computations.
6.- 9. Calculations of functional objects.
10.- 12. Design of functional objects. Detailed solution of layout plan.
13. Technical report, completion of the project.

Aims

Ability to analyse specified problem, overview of essential data and principle of project elaboration, ability to use modern computer technology, bearing in actual legislation related to the specified problem.

Extent and forms are specified by guarantor’s regulation updated for every academic year.

Recommended optional programme components

Participation in the professional seminars focusing on the issues of water management and water structures.
