Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students will achieve an intermediate level of Russian both in vocabulary and grammar. Then they will be able to read, translate and make quite difficult Russian texts. Students will be able to discuss the following topics – ecology, travelling, food, lifestyle. Students will master the following Russian grammar - inflexion of adjectives, telling the time, conditionals, conjugation of verbs, imperative mood, indefinite pronouns and adverbs.
The target level of Russian is B1- (according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).

Prerequisites

Students should master Russian alphabet very well, vocabulary and conversation on the following topics - introducing, phoning, basic information about myself, nationalities, on a visit, family, jobs, free time, hobbies, school, orientation in the city, means of transport, shopping, Moscow and Petersburg, Prague, meeting friends, appearance, human body, clothes, characteristics of people, seasons, weather. Students should accomplish the following grammar - numerals, conjugation of verbs, reflexive verbs, infinitive, inflexion of nouns, adjectives and pronouns, inanimate and animate nouns, indeclinable nouns, prepositional phrases, date, past tense, using "vy" when addressing a person, substantivized adjectives, proximity.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods


Grammar and vocabulary is practised in an interactive way, with emphasis on conversation. Development of communication and listening skills using interactive audio-visual technologies.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

In order to receive their credits, students need to attend classes regularly (max. 3 absences per semester), do homework and actively participate in the lessons.

The aim of the subject is to achieve an intermediate level of Russian both in vocabulary and grammar. Then also the student´s ability to read, translate and make Russian texts of intermediate level.
