Original Abstract
The paper deals with general modular arithmetic operations implemented in computational restricted devices like smart cards. The advanced cryptographic schemes usually contain modular arithmetic operations. Nevertheless, the operations like multiplication and exponentiation are computationally hard on the smart cards for the length of parameters which is bigger than 1024 bits. For example, if the phase of an cryptographic scheme is running on the card and it consists of several modular multiplications and exponentiations then the time of computation takes from hundreds milliseconds to several seconds which is undesirable in practice. Our measured results prove the efficiency of modular multiplication and exponentiation on the MULTOS smart cards that natively support the cryptocoprocessor.
