Original Abstract

This paper discusses a new IP Geolocalisation technique after introducing other contemporary techniques, starting with the earliest known GPS systems for geolocation. The work addresses a key-feature of any constraint-based geolocalisation method, which is finding the maximum linear distance of a target with the unknown position to a set of landmarks with the known geographical position. We define the maximum linear distance using the physical cable length in the interconnecting networks. The proposed method CLBG (Cable Length Based Geolocalisation) first estimates the physical cable length between the target node and the landmark and this in turn is used to compute the linear distance. The computed linear distance is consequently used for the target node localization using multilateration. The CLBG methods outperforms other similar techniques when compared in a both national and global IP networks.
