Original Abstract

Latent heat cold storage integrated with building structures can be used with all kinds of air-conditioning systems. It can even be employed in passive cooling of buildings. One of the practical problems with this kind of cold storage is (very often) contradictory technical and aesthetic requirements. The naked aluminium containers installed on the internal surfaces quite well satisfy the technical requirements (thermal storage capacity, heat transfer), but they are hardly acceptable from the aesthetic point of view in comfort air-conditioning. However, the PCM-filled metal containers, with an aesthetic surface finishing, could be used as suspended ceiling tiles. Such containers are already available.
