Original Abstract

Nowadays, the intima-media thickness (IMT) is considered as important value for prediction of cardio-vascular diseases. The IMT measurement is performed in ultrasound images. Their pre-processing is very important procedure, due to the presence of speckle noise. IMT is very thin (approx. 0.7mm) and therefore its preprocessing have to be extremely precise. Common preprocessing methods are presented in this paper and they are compared regarding their specific utilization. Moreover, a novel fusion based method for image de-noising is proposed.
