Original Abstract

Thermal treatment of waste gases which are produced in the natural gas production and their storage is one of the first industrial applications of the new compact equipment described. Two streams with waste gases produced from underground storage (a mixture of hydrocarbons with the composition which is close to the natural gas one, and vapours with 98% of water and 2% of hydrocarbons) are treated. The first stream is thanks to its high heating value used as fuel in the combustion chamber and vapours enter directly the chamber. There is also necessary to avoid thermal destruction of the device. Air for cooling in an annular space between the cylindrical combustion chamber and the outer shell of the equipment is used for this purpose. At the same time the air layer serves as an insulation. Air flow is controlled in dependence on the temperature of flue gas.
