Degradací betonu rozumíme postupné a trvalé narušování základních vlastností betonu, vedoucí až k jeho rozpadu. Je to jedna z podmínek snižování životnosti celé betonové konstrukce. Při hodnocení životnosti celé kompozitní konstrukce vycházíme z degradace jednotlivých staviv a jejich spolupůsobení.

Under concrete degradation we understand a step by step and permanent erosion of basic concrete properties, which leads to disintegration. It is one of conditions for decrease of durability of the total concrete structure. During the evaluation of the whole composite construction we start from the degradation of individual building materials and from their common effect.
