Original Abstract

In the internal combustion engine development process several numerical simulation techniques have continuously gained importance. The main target is the design support, which means help for design decisions. An important aspect of engine design is its reliability and durability improvement. With the increasing power of computers accurate pre-calculations have become possible with consideration of a large number of effects and backward influences.
