Original Abstract

A construction project of a car starter-generator is introduced in this paper. The choice of the system conception is briefly discussed (the choice of the machine type, voltage level, mechanical solution with a gearbox or without it). The required parameters are defined. A concrete realised construction is described – a synchronous permanent magnets EC-machine placed directly on the crankshaft of the combustion engine, DC/AC converter for the start regime, DC/DC converter for the generator regime and electronic control circuits. Finally some important measurement results are mentioned: The static torque measurement in the start regime – maximum starting torque and torque ripple during rotor revolution, dynamical measurement in the start regime – torque - speed characteristic, measurements in the generator regime – charge curve, DC/DC converter efficiency.
