Original Abstract

Composite structures are subjected to a wide range of loading conditions. Significant redistribution of internal forces and varying deflections caused by creep and shrinkage has to be taken into account at design and should be analysed. Highway bridge D211 is a composite structure constructed from concrete elements of various ages and different material properties, i.e. precast girders from high-strength concrete (C90/105, C60/75), which are combined, of about 4 months delay, with cast in situ reinforced concrete slab (C55/67). The bridge sections are thus formed by the slab and girders of different dimensions. The different dimensions of the cross-sectioned members result in irregular drying of the section and by that also in irregular shrinkage of the individual parts.
