Original Abstract

Obstacles which were encountered when trying to use computational methods based on the principle of virtual work (most FEMs) and the 2nd order theory for geometrically nonlinear structural analysis in GAMS [5] are explained. Further, geometric deformation theorems with general applicability to any 2D bar member (extension to 3D bars is intended) are proposed and an example of their possible applicability is shown.
