Original Abstract

The article summarises the results achieved by studying selected modern mathematical methods used in control theory. In the field of continuous control, we will focus on optimization theory, on mathematical modelling by differential equations with a time lag and on the control of systems defined by differential equations of non-integer orders. As the last-mentioned equations are transformed into polynomials with non-integer coefficients by a Laplace transform, the algebraic structure formed by such polynomials will be described and studied in some detail. In the field of discrete control, we will concentrate on the mathematical synthesis of a control system and therefore will investigate Euclidean domains and linear diophantine equations for both polynomials and polynomial matrices.
