Original Abstract

Treatment of complicated fractures is much more difficult than the treatment of simple fractures. Bone tissue but also soft tissue injuries happen in most cases. That is why plaster bandage cannot be used for fracture fixation. Fixators are used to fixate the fractured bones in this case. Fixators are furthermore used in the treatment of limb imperfections where damaged area must be overbridged. The fixation has principal influence on quality of bone concretion. Fixator must be able to transport the load arising during walking. Stiffness of a system fixator: bone should be the same as stiffness of single bone. The second criteria of fixator functionality is no overloading of bone tissue during the treatment. Two types of the most often applied fixators were studied in terms of suggestion from Trauma Hospital of Brno. Both fixators belong to the category of axial fixators. This paper is concerned with the study of stiffness of two systems fixator: bone via strain-stress analysis and their comparison with physiological state of bone.
