Original Abstract

Heat insulating materials are used as lining for kiln aggregates where they protect the rest of the kiln equipment against heat and minimize heat losses. These heat losses are directly proportional to the heat conductivity coefficient of the insulating material during stationary heat flux. Heat conductivity depends not only on the bulk density but also on the pore structure and phase content of the material used. Burning-out additives (chips, coke, coal), volatile materials proc-essed by foaming, or lightweight opening materials can be used to create a porous sys-tem.
