Original Abstract

Today Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) and Very high-speed Digital Subscriber Line (VDSL) technologies are using an MCM realization called Discrete MultiTone modulation (DMT). In the WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) terrestrial transmission complying with IEEE 802.11a and IEEE 802.11g and DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) a very similar modulation called OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) is used. In the paper, a filter bank modulation technique, called Filtered MultiTone (FMT), is presented.FMT is a MultiCarrier Modulation (MCM) alternative to the currently used Discrete MultiTone (DMT) and Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) techniques.
