Original Abstract

The paper deals with proposing an SDL simulation model for single source multicast with the accompanying RTP/RTCP protocol. The recent deployment IP-based distribution of TV and radio requires a new one-to-many multicast architecture instead of the traditional many-to-many communication. Although single source multicast offers the required way of communication, it does not support the feedback channel for carrying RTCP control messages. New methods are developed to provide a feedback channel via unicast connections. The proposed simulation model covers these methods and is intended to simulate the behaviour of sessions with an extreme number of receivers such as TV broadcasting over IP.
