Original Abstract

Oxidative stress is an imbalance between oxidants occurence on organism and its antioxidant defense. Oxidative stress is assessed by determination of secondary products like isoprostanes which is group of prostaglandin-like compounds. These are formed via non enzymatic radical oxidation of polyunsaturated fatty acids with at least four double bonds. One of the most useful method is determination of isoprostanes by HPLC with tandem mass spectrometric detection (HPLC-MS/MS).
