Original Abstract

Paper describes image processing algorithms used in robotic soccer games. The goal is to find the position and orientation of objects - mobile robots and a ball - moving on a playground using the color CCD camera. Different colors of robots' dresses allow to identify the particular team members. In the vision system a special video camera is used which possesses the color CCD chip with complementary color mosaic filters, but the camera itself provides the information about the brightness of the particular pixels only, not its color. Thus, coloring has to be made in the PC. Further, filtering algorithms used to extraction of desired information from noisy video signal are presented. Proposed algorithms are very robust, fast, and were verified on a real system.
