The state of art in the field of concrete and masonry structures strengthening (building, bridges) is presented. Some basic methods for strengthening structures with non-prestressed additional reinforcement, prestressed additional reinforcement are desceribed. The main differences, advantages and disadvantages of the strengthening types are stated. The main principles for the design of strengthening are specified.
