Original Abstract

This work describes the preparation of nanomachined surface on thin film electrodes system fabricated on silicon wafer. Nanorods, nanowires and nanotubes are useful for improving sensing properties of electrochemical or gas microsensor. Microsensors are expected to achieve higher sensitivity if their sensing electrodes are formed from nanostructures. The surface is enlarged by nanostructures causing lower detection limits. The electrodes surfaces were modified by the nanowires or nanotubes, which are fabricated by templates-based method. The hexagonal ordered porous alumina was used as a template prepared by anodization technique directly on electrodes surface. A metal can be electrodeposited into the pores and after removing the template, nanowires or nanotubes of the same diameters as the pores in the template are obtained. In our case, only metal materials were deposited, such as gold, palladium, nickel and tin.
