Original Abstract

This paper deals with the electrical and the thermal conductivity and the viscosity of low temperature plasma. These properties are important for the description of processes in the electric arc and for the mathematical modelling of arc. The used calculation method of the transport properties is based on the kinetic theory of gases and on the Chapman-Enskog method added on to the multicomponent mixtures. This method utilizes the collision integrals for a pair of particles and the knowledge of these quantities is the integral part of calculation. The way of the determination of collision integrals depends on the pair of colliding particles and can distinctively influence the resulting values. The methods of the hard sphere model, the Lennard-Jones potential, the polarizability method, the Coulomb interaction are fundamental methods and were used in the calculation. For some pair of particles the experimental values of the momentum transfer cross section or published values of collision integrals were used too. The composition and some thermodynamic properties of plasma are important input data of the calculation. The local thermodynamic equilibrium is supposed. The calculation method was used for determination of the transport coefficients of air, nitrogen and argon and resulting values are presented in this paper.
