Original Abstract

Fracture processes in heterogeneous material such as concrete can be advantageously modeled by lattice approach. Many different lattice models were developed for simulating crack propagation in concrete. Here, concrete is represented by 2D rigid-body-spring network with elastic-brittle springs. Sequential step-by-step linear solution procedure is often utilized in order to solve tasks with nonlinear constitutive relations numerically simply. However, this procedure can be applied only to problems with proportional loading. Simulations presented here are based on modified step-by-step linear procedure that is used for lattice simulations of Nooru-Mohamed experiments with nonproportional load path. Emphasis is placed on obtained crack pattern and load-deflection curves in comparison with experimental results.
