Original Abstract

The complex approach to the reliability analysis of load bearing structural systems emanates from the division of uncertainty encountered during the design and operation of structures. Modern theories of uncertainty analyses, which may be used for the description of uncertainties, are listed in the article. The basis for the formulation of computational algorithms is the interaction of computational mechanics and the interdisciplinary scope of analysis. Extra attention is paid to methods suitable for the analyses of limit states, failure mechanisms and also to the formulation of consequential principles of design and realization.
