Original Abstract

Flow in asymmetric sudden expansion duct was studied using large eddy simulation incorporated in Fluent 6.2. Main focus was aimed on coherent structures and their time evolution. Numerical simulation enabled to visualize vortex shedding and spatio-temporal behavior of the vortices. Transversal velocity components were recorded and processed by Fourier transform. Dominant frequencies of the vortex shedding are close to the ones from LDA (Laser Doppler Anemometry) experiments. Spectral power densities (turbulence spectra) fit also quite well.
