Original Abstract

This contribution gives an overview of results from our effort to investigate potential use of the South Moravian lignite as a chemical product. Investigations are guided by the cost-efficiency demand - lignite applications in its natural state, with no or minimum additional treatment are preferred. Research is carried out in areas like: lignite as a sorbent for both inorganic and organic pollutants, lignite as a soil conditioner and plant nutrition support, lignite as a polymer filler, lignite particles prepared using a (bio)polymer binder, activity of lignite in radical and photochemical processes.
