Original Abstract

Humic acids (HA) play important role in self-detoxification and remediation of natural soils and sediments and provide a possibility of producing HA-based artificial remediation agents. Many works concerning interactions of different chemicals with solid or dissolved humic acids have been published. This contribution focuses on metal ions transport and immobilization in humic gel as a model of natural humic environments. In experimental part, copper was used as a model heavy metal due to high affinity to humic acids and stability of formed complexes. Effects of individual Cu2+ solution properties on the total diffusion flux across the solution-gel interface and concentration profile in the gel have been determined. Applicability of used mathematical description, problems of experimental arrangement and possibilities of metal ions transport and immobilization modeling are discussed.
