Original Abstract

Acid-base properties of humic acids play very important role in nature. They influence the humic acids reactivity and therefore many processes in soil and water. This contribution deals with acid-base properties of humic acids in various dispersion forms: suspension, sol, gel. Total and carboxylic acidity were determined in these three forms as well as in sodium humate. The relation-ships between ash content and acidity in individual humic samples were also studied. It was found, that acidity of humic acids depends relatively strongly on their dispersion forms, which can influences e.g. their immobilization ability in nature. Ash content and elemental composition can also significantly influence their acid-base behaviour.
