Original Abstract

The analysis of the influence of kurtosis of the amplitude of initial random imperfection of a strut on its load-carrying capacity is performed in the paper. Kurtosis is considered as a fuzzy number. The fuzzy solution was chosen because only little objective information, from experimental research, of this variable is available. The output is the fuzzy-random failure probability. The defuzzified value is compared with the crisp value obtained without the utilization of the fuzzy theory.
