Original Abstract

The paper deals with on-site measurements of energy benefits resulting from exploitation of double-skin solar energy facade for pre-heating of ventilating air. The southwards oriented facade with total area of 1135 m2 on a new building of Moravian Library in Brno (Czech Republic) was investigated. The temperature rise of air in the facade reaches on sunny winter days 20-25 K, and so the solar pre-heated air can be used directly for ventilation of the building. Based on air temperature and solar radiation data, which have been acquired using automation monitoring system during heating season 2002-2003, the annual energy savings of 7 % of total energy consumption of building were estimated.
