Original Abstract

This article addresses the issue of uncertainty, with which we are often forced to work with whether we want to or not, in engineering. The paper presents an alternate approach in the modelling of initial imperfections as fuzzy numbers. The evaluation of the load carrying capacity of a steel member is presented. The load bearing capacity was solved utilizing the geometric non linear beam solution. The fuzzy analysis of the strut load carrying capacity is compared with the random load carrying capacity determined acc. to the LHS method based on real material and geometric characteristics and acc. to EC 3.
